Hot Tub In Lodge Looking Out Into Field and Lake In Distance

It’s Been a Long Time

1 January 2023 General

Reminiscing about 2022 at South View Lodges

I don’t quite know where to start! wow what a long time and year its been! I cant believe I havent written a blog for so long, probably because I find them a bit boring, IT is not my thing, but, it is a good way to keep you up to date with whats been going on.

The biggest highlight has been the building and opening of No6, our new bespoke lodge, and the arrival of our Alpacas, the start up of that new business lakeside alpacas!.

Firstly, No6, my goodness what a thing of beauty this one is! it sleeps 4, both bedrooms and bathrooms totally seperate, so much space, both have showers and roll top baths. The lounge kitchen diner is just sublime! dusky rose pink kitchen and drinks cabinet to die for, and then the outside area…….the huge undercover area has a large seating area and a sunken in hot tub which holds just over 2000ltrs of water. We couldnt be more proud of our vision and actually bringing the building to life, it also has a lake to itself, with the alpacas next to the lodge!

The lodge is the most sustainable lodge that we have built, and were striving to become a green site as much as we can. biomass boiler, bore hole water, solar panel fish feeders, our own wood for the log burners, eco laundry, waste management system, and our lake water is used to water all our plants/baskets inthe summer, can we get any greener!

Alpacas! well, what fun these guys are. We purchased 5 pregnant females, all having their babies in the summer, the females are now pregnant again ready for next summer. If you would like to book to feed them or have an afternoon tea with them then you can book online for 2023!

The low part of the year has been re my porr Dad who alot of you will know from staying here over the years as he is the farmer! he unfortunatly had a fall and broke his hip back in July, but then contracted sepsis which lead to kidney failure and then needing dialysis, after many other issues and throwing covid into the mix for him he came home mid November from hospital, a very long 4.5 months. Mum and I now care for him, im not sure you will see him on the quad bike again, but he is making some progress at home. This has taken up so much of our time, with running the farm, hospital visiting most days and now caring for him.

But after all of this, it seems like only a blink ago and it was 2021. Business has been great this year, with business returning to normal after 2 years of covid measures and restrictions and then a hige increase in people wanting to have staycations.

Andrew and I are well and the kids now 17 and nearly 15! and Roxy Disney and Tiggy working hard onside!

We look forward to welcoming you all soon and we wish you a fantastic Christmas and a properous 2023

Warmest regards

Jill & Andrew
